In a shocking turn of events, the notorious Texas rapper South Park Mexican (real name Carlos Coy) has been denied parole after serving 23 years in prison for the sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl back in 2001.
According to reports, Coy's parole was denied in court on January 13, 2025. The denial reasoning stated that "the record indicates the instant offense has elements of brutality, violence, assaultive behavior, or conscious selection of victim's vulnerability indicating a conscious disregard of the lives, safety, or property of others, such that the offender poses a continuing threat to public safety."

This means that Coy will now have to wait until January 2028 to try for parole again. If denied then, he will serve out his full sentence until his expected release date of April 8, 2047.
South Park Mexican gained prominence in the late 90s and early 2000s with a series of successful albums that blended Southern hip-hop and Latin influences. However, his career was quickly derailed following his 2001 conviction for the heinous crime. Though his music still gets plays on streaming platforms, his name is forever tarnished.
This is just the latest development in the disturbing trend of high-profile rappers being exposed as sexual predators. Just last year, we saw Akon and The Game team up with controversial YouTuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy to conduct sting operations on alleged child predators in public settings.
The fact that South Park Mexican continues to be denied parole shows that the justice system is taking these crimes seriously and not letting these offenders off the hook easily. Hopefully, this serves as a warning to any other artists who may be tempted to abuse their power and influence in such a despicable manner.
