Mike Epps Confirms Role in New 'Friday' Movie, Pleads for Chris Tucker to Join

In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, legendary comedian Mike Epps revealed that he will be reprising his role as Day Day in the long-awaited fourth installment of the Friday film franchise.

Epps shared that Ice Cube, who created and starred in the original Friday movie, recently told him "We just finished the deal" for the new film, titled Last Friday. "So we doing Last Friday," Epps confirmed.

While Epps hasn't seen the script yet, he's optimistic about the direction of the new movie. "I'm pretty sure it's good. And we gonna bring in the new comics. We gonna bring the DC Young Flys and all of them in with the OGs and it's gonna be a good ass time."

However, there's one key cast member Epps is hoping will return - Chris Tucker, who played the iconic role of Smokey in the first two Friday films.

"Hopefully we can get Chris Tucker in it," Epps pleaded. "We need to get Chris Tucker in that because people still love Chris Tucker. He's still Smokey. He laid it down. He positioned me to do it. Chris, if you listening: we need ya, baby boy. Come on back!"

This announcement builds on previous comments from Ice Cube about reviving the Friday franchise. Last year, Cube revealed that Warner Bros. had finally greenlit a new installment after years of delays, partly due to the passing of co-stars John Witherspoon and Anthony Johnson.

"We finally got some traction with Warner Bros.," Cube said. "They have new leadership...and it was like, 'Yo, what the fuck is going on with Friday? Man, let's get this back online.'"

Fans have been eagerly awaiting a new Friday movie for years, and the return of Epps and potentially Tucker has many excited for the next chapter. As Cube previously stated, "People love Friday because everyone's lived Friday. Everyone has lived a thousand Fridays."

With the original cast reuniting and new talent joining, Last Friday looks poised to continue the beloved franchise's legacy in a fresh, hilarious way. Fingers crossed Chris Tucker answers Epps' call and hops back on board.
