In a troubling turn of events, popular rapper Rod Wave has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies related to an alleged violent incident. The 25-year-old artist was taken into custody on May 20th and hit with a staggering 13 different felony counts, including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a felony, pointing a gun at another person, criminal damage to property, reckless conduct, and tampering with evidence.
Details surrounding the specific incident that led to the charges are still scarce, as neither the police nor Rod Wave himself have provided much information. What we do know is that the rapper was able to secure a bond and was released from jail on the same day as his arrest.
This is not the first time Rod Wave has had run-ins with the law. Last year, he was arrested on gun possession charges, though he was quickly released due to what appeared to be an error in the charges. His lawyer at the time argued that Rod Wave was not actually a convicted felon, despite the police's claims.
Additionally, the rapper was previously charged over a domestic violence incident in 2022, where he allegedly strangled his girlfriend. However, the charges in that case were later dropped.
Rod Wave has also had other brushes with the justice system, including a stint in juvenile detention after he was accused of shooting another man in the foot when he was 15 years old. Though authorities initially pursued attempted murder charges, it was later claimed that the incident was an accident, and the case was ultimately dropped.
Given Rod Wave's history of legal troubles, this latest arrest on such serious felony charges is certainly concerning. Fans and industry observers will no doubt be closely following the developments in this case to see how it ultimately plays out. For now, the rapper remains free on bond as the investigation continues.
